Megan Hastings, Career Coach
I am excited to serve in my third year as Oneonta City Schools' Career Coach! An Oneonta alumna, I am passionate about helping students develop confidence in themselves and enthusiasm for their futures. I am here to help students with a variety of future-focused skills: college and career planning, self-reflection and goal-setting, employability skills training, college and scholarship applications, resume development and essay writing, and financial planning. In addition to student advising, I coordinate K-12 career events, speakers, trips, and job shadowing opportunities! In the classroom, I educate K-12 students about different careers and colleges as well as help them with interest inventories. I also get to work on OCS's Public Relations team and as the Majorette Coach for the OHS Marching Band. I earned my bachelor's degree in English Language Arts Education from Auburn University (2008) and my Master of Arts degree in Education from The University of Alabama (2009). Over the sixteen years I have served as an educator, I have taught Secondary English Language Arts, instructed ESL, and coached professional writers, but my favorite is helping students learn and grow as Oneonta's Career Coach! My husband Mitchell is also an Oneonta alum, and we have two boys, ages 8 and 5. We love being a part of the OCS family!
